"The Peace and Stability of the region," which Secretary Clinton evidently prizes highly, is built upon the maintenance of abusive and corrupt minority governments--in Bahrain, in Kuwait, in Oman, in Dubai, and in Saudi Arabia itself. On one hand we pretend that our nation is interested in promoting democracy in all nations, and we point to the quasi-theocratic and semi-fascist example of Israel as a model for the Middle East. On the other hand, we are frightened that a truly democratic state in any of these places would threaten the flow of oil on which our economy depends. So we continue to support the abusive and corrupt.

No wonder so many people around the world do not trust the United States nor its intentions.

Grab the women and children and head for the hills.

I thought the remark about Iran causing destabilization of the area was bordering on the absurd when you consider the stability our presence has engendered. What does she regard as stability?

It seems that the region became unstable after the British found oil. Before then there wasn't much ado about the region. But now it is unstable.

Do you suppose that there is any relationship between outside interests, oil and the instability of the region?

    Right.

More impotent rhetoric towards the real enemy. Just like "stop your nuclear program or... or, we'll take you off of our Christmas card list". Give me a fucking break already, here's what neocons have to thank GW for - going after a midget in Saddam while the real threat - Iran (and North Korea) gain momentum.

    Thanks, dubya.

In what way is Iran the real threat, a threat to whom?

The Ayatollas believe they are kings?

I don't understand the correlation between Iran and Attila the Hun, do the Sunni have a aversion or wish toward Iran Invading Europe? What has Iran done to be deserved of the claim of being a scourge worse than Attila...who today even knows the short lived conquests of Attila...aside from Hollywood movies?

We Share the view that Iran's activities in the gulf, including its efforts to advance it's agenda in neighboring countires, undermines the Peace and Stability of the region. At that meeting she met with numerous Arab Officials(Sunni)who complained that Iran was formenting unrest in Bahrain and elsewhere.

Clinton stated that the US has an abiding committment to Gulf Security, and that our top priority is working together with our partners on our shared concerns about Iranian behaviour in the region.

The U.S., which counts Bahrain as a centerpiece of its Gulf military framework, has sent top envoys to meet with the embattled monarchy and has been criticized by Shiite opposition groups for not coming to their support. Bahrain hosts the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet, which is the Pentagon's main regional counterweight to Iran's growing military powers.

It is clear that the Sunni's will always blame the Persians(Farsi) for their problems.....but to blame Iran for what is going on in Bahrain is ridiculous. Almost damn near ludicrious. Even the Shia Sheiks are now speaking out and beginning to huddle together. I think Al-Sadr(Shi'te) who hid in Iran has more to do with this than Iran. He announced in Iraq that he would go to Bahrain. But that is all it took.....and these events transpired over night.

Not only is Bahrain port to the 5th fleet, but we have 46,000 troops in Iraq..... predominantly Shia Country. Proudly they have begun burning American Flags again and Al-Sadr is blaming us and our interventions. There and Now Libya! Thoughts?

I told you, this is a proxy war...for now. It is funny watching this all play out. Russia knows that we are surrounding them and they wont sit still for long. If we turn our sight on Iran, which this group of international terrorists will, then Russia will get involved.

I heard a preacher say something along those lines

    Seriously?

We have a rogue country who oppresses their people, makes outlandish statements denying the holocaust, takes hostages at will, funds insurgencies, successfully tests long range missile capabilities and is in the process of developing nuclear capabilities.

I'm stunned that this has to be explained.
