Very good film that delves into how interests set up parameters for public discourse.

I think someone already posted "Food, Inc." on here but I'm not sure where. I just saw it on PBS recently, a really astounding film. Scary as hell.
I highly recommend it, but a word to the wise, don't be eating meat while you watch it.

This is about how a small minority of Sunni leaders quash a democratic movement and now we are selling them weapons.

When the world’s financial bubble blew, the solution was to lower interest rates and pump trillions of dollars into the sick banking system. The solution is the problem, that’s why we had a problem in the first place. For Economics Nobel laureate Vernon Smith, the Catch 22 is self-evident. But interest rates have been at rock bottom for years, and governments are running out of fuel to feed the economy. The governments can save the banks, but who can save the governments? Forecasts predict all countries’ debt will reach 100% of GDP by next year. Greece and Iceland have already crumbled, who will be next?

Great post, Anon. When the Saudi forces moved into Bahrain last year during the Arab spring, it is worthy to note that the Obama Admin reassured that this was "not an invasion," and one done in the name of "security."
Bahrain's problems need much more exposure, but generally, these kinds of actions of US client states don't get the same amount of coverage, unless you look at independent journalists and media.

"This is revolution in the making
A ragtag movement set to takeover the nation
Now isn't that fun?
You just wanna make the world better, isn't that young?
Well, blessings to the youth then
And don't stop, until they let the truth in
Once there, never let it leave
And protect it, they'll catch it and never set it free" - Lupe Fiasco "The End of the World"

This documentary has stunning cinematography. But more importantly gives information on human activity throughout our history and the impact we have had on our habitat. Our small blue island. It begins at the beginning, before life even began on this planet. Please don't scoff or criticize before you watch it. It demonstrates and highlights the connections and interconnections we have with the rest of the planet and each other. If you have an hour and a half of free time I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off. ~ Gloria Steinem
