    What's your favorite cadence?

Running. Marching. Whatever. I miss these.

I'd tell you my all time favorite, but then I'd get the PC attack. So I'll give you my second favorite for marching. It's also politically incorrect, just not violent :

I wish that all the ladies,
    Were pies on a shelf,
    and I was a baker,
I'd eat em all my self!

I wish that all the ladies,
    were bricks in a pile,
    and I was a mason,
I'd lay em with my style!

I wish that all the ladies,
    Were holes in the road,
and I was a dump truck,
I'd fill em with my load!

I wish that all the ladies,

    Were waves in the ocean,
    and i was a surfer,
I'd ride 'em with my motion!

I wish that all the ladies,
    Were bells in the tower,
and i was a bell boy,
    I'd bang 'em every hour!

Used to get in trouble for that one all the time since we weren't supposed to call it. Oh well .

Ohhh and I just remembered our favorite from basic:
    We are 3rd plt
    and we like to party
    party hardy
    party hardy all night long
Your left, your left, your left, right, get on down
Your left, your left, your left, right, get on down
Now stop, drop, and beat your face
3rd platoon's gonna rock this place
Said hooah check it out check it out
Said hooah check it out check it out
Said OOH AHH I wanna kill somebody
OHH AHH I wanna kill sombody
    Smoooth sooo damnnn smooth

We added some more onto it that was actually original, but it's escaping me right now

Oh and I can't forget this one... Specifically curtailed to my MOS hahaha

    Hi Ho Lock and Load
The sound of the Radar is loud and bold
14 Echoes are ready to roll
So early, so early, so early in the morning

Outta my rack at a Quarter to Four
The Captain yells We're Going to War
Grabbed my ruck on my way out the door
    So early in the morning

Grabbed my dispatch, grabbed my keys
A Tangos crying on his knees
The tanks are full, we're heading out
So early, so early, so early in the morning

Emplace the Big Four there and now
The Launchers stuck I don't know how
All Tangos do is drive and drive
    So early in the morning

Prime Powers up, the Radars done
Echoes are out just having fun
The Chock Blocks (Tangos) are digging
    The excitements begun
    So early in the morning

    Finally the launchers up
The fibers in, that's just plain luck
    The ICC is happy now
    So early in the morning

    Monitor both day and night
Blasting Scuds from left to right
    14 Echoes lead the way
So early, so early, so early in the morning

I have to watch what I say herein also. This was before ladies were allowed to join in the ground forces and thus it's now perceived lack of social acceptability.

There's so many cadences I like, but we add our own words to them lol
"This is revolution in the making
A ragtag movement set to takeover the nation
    Now isn't that fun?
You just wanna make the world better, isn't that young?
Well, blessings to the youth then
And don't stop, until they let the truth in
Once there, never let it leave
And protect it, they'll catch it and never set it free" - Lupe Fiasco "The End of the World"

Ya' got a better memory than I do. My U.S.M.C. days go back to 1968 and much of it was made up on the spur of the moment.
    I do remember:

Ain't no use in going home, ain't no use in going home,
Jody's got your girl and gone, Jody's got your girl and gone.
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Hi- Ho silver.

    I don't know but I been told, I don't know by I've been told

Again, apologies to the ladies here.

Hollywood this is not from memory I assure you....I did basic in 1977. But during my time I kept a journal and wrote all my experiences and to include the daily routine and cadences. Had it not been for that friend ,y answer would have been duh..I forget! There is a good movie from 1949, as I recall named "Battleground" starring Van Johnson, Stuart Whitmen and James Arness. Irony would have it that all these men served during WWII. Anyway the movie is B&W and centers aorund the Nazi Ardennes Offensive in December 1944. They use partial cadences during the movie but at the ebd they use the complete lyrcis as they are finally sent back from the line. Fernando Lamas is also in the movie. A good flick for all you WWII buffs.

I see some of the cadence here are quite different than the ones we had back in the 60's. A lot of ours were about women cheating on us, by the guy that didn't serve, that was "Jody."

    I don't know but I've been told,
    Kansas City is mighty cold.

I borrowed this from a website, but it is basically some of the jody cadence of the time. Platoon sgt.s back then enjoyed telling you how your girlfriend or wife was cheating on you. Damn if they were not right.

Got a letter in the mail
Go to war or go to jail
Sat me in that barber's chair
Spun me around, I had no hair
    Used to drive a Cadillac
Now I pack it on my back
    Used to drive a limousine
    Now I'm wearing Army green
Dress it right and cover down
    Forty inches all around
Nine to the front and six to the rear
That's the way we do it here
Used to date a beauty queen
    Now I date my M-16
Ain't no use in lookin' down
Ain't no discharge on the ground
Ain't no use in going back
    Jody's got your Cadillac
Ain't no use in calling home
Jody's got your girl and gone
Ain't no use in feeling blue
    Jody's got your sister too
    Took away my faded jeans
    Now I'm wearing Army greens
They took away my gin and rum
Now I'm up before the sun
    Mama Mama can't you see
What this Army's done for me
    Mama Mama can't you see
This Army life is killing me
