Congrats MMC. Your son can only come out a better man.
I am not a veteran, but my 33yr old son enlisted US Army a few months ago. He's doing their Future Soldiers program right now and reports to boot camp in Sept. He found the industry he was in for 8 years was not panning out without a college diploma. Naturally he saw the education opportunity in the military, but he is level headed and has a close friend in his 6th year with the Army so my son understands the seriousness of the commitment. We're very proud of him. I look back and see the military could have made me a stronger man. But I was a pot smoking, guitar playing, motorcycle racer who was glad to have a high enough lottery number to keep me out of Viet Nam. Well now my son can teach me about life and the world.
Hang tough. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your son and your family.
