It is about time someone spoke up against the nasty vitriol dripping from the "denialist" camp

An organised cyber-bullying campaign, including abusive emails, is targeting Australian climate scientists who speak out on climate change, according to author Clive Hamilton.
The 2009 Greens candidate says the attacks are arranged by "denialist organisations" and are aimed at driving climate scientists from the public debate.
Professor Hamilton says aggressive, abusive and sometimes threatening emails are being sent to distinguished scientists each time they speak out on the subject.
"Apart from the volume and viciousness of the emails, the campaign has two features - it is mostly anonymous and it appears to be orchestrated," he wrote in ABC's The Drum.

Sounds like a more violent version of the typical knee jerk response by the uninformed to shoot the messenger. I hope they are able to track down the scum.

I can't say I'm surprised. The global warming denialist were hoping that "climategate" would lead to the unraveling of a scientific consensus; unfortunately for them, the psuedo scandal revealed nothing other than scientific terminology taken out of context. The fact remains that 97% of active climatologists agree that anthropogenic global warming is occurring, and little can be done to change that.

This does not surprise me at all. The sheer volume of denialist propaganda, with high levels of shrillness, and generously laced with hyperbolic words such as "scam" and "fraud," suggests that the people behind it have an axe to grind but no genuine science to back up their position.
