A LIP gloss with a drink spike detector is expected to be available soon in Australia.

The gloss comes with a pink taper which is dipped into a drink to test for date rape drugs GHB and ketamine.

The strips turn blue straight away if the drink is spiked.

The product, an invention of British cosmetics company 2LoveMyLips, has been a hit in Britain since its launch last month.

Launches for the product are planned for Australia, the US, and tourist destinations in the Middle East.

There are plans to sell the lippies in vending machines in bars and nightclub toilets.

    Brilliant!

I'm so happy to see drug testing technology used for something other than forcing people to testify against themselves via their own bodily fluids.

I like this too. If it can save women from being harmed, then I support it.

Brilliant idea. There is a company in the UK that is making a running bra with a GPS chip in case of abduction.

    That is a great idea.

Shh... "someone" is going to tell you it's another way that the government can track the movements of their citizens.

I will certainly be the first in line to buy one for my daughter. As it is she carries pepper spray and usually either has a friend or the dog when she runs. She's had safety training with our local SWAT members on self defense and has taken kickboxing.

She was abducted her freshman year while running. It was horrible but she survived.

This is another one of those inventions I should have thought of yesterday. Just like the Snuggie.

Be very wary of shady characters giving out dozens of sports bras as Christmas gifts to their female co-workers this year. Now that I think of it, this could take stalking to a more high tech and intimate level.

And some Americans recently devised a bra that doubles up as a pair of gas masks - a bra for every disaster.
