I trust Monsanto about as much as I trust George Bush. :whistling:
Their history proves that they are just a capitalistic company, whose bottomline is far more important than the safety of the general community.
They lied about Agent Orange and the effects it would have on humans, not to mention Prosilac, whose long-term effects we are still waiting to see. So what is to stop them from lying about the safety of yet another useless product?
It is sad to see what can corporations do with people’s mind just to sell their products... money is what matters to them not human lives... I've red somewhere about a medical corporation that launched a new medication which had some nasty side effects (like heart strokes and stuff) But since those side effects could appearing really rare (something like 1% of the people that were on that medication) the corporation decided that it will be more expensive to pull the medication out of the market than to pay the compensation if someone put them under trialand they left it on the market ...
That's pretty funny.![]()
But is it so much an issue of how much corn you eat directly, or the corn meal diet the cattle and chickens you eat are fed that concentrates something in the food chain before it gets to you?
I'm definitely not going to come down on the side of Greenpeice or any other conspiracy kookie tale just because it sounds good (they never do), but those test results are interesting, and more research wouldn't hurt. In the mean time, just sell the stuff to France.
It will catch up with them eventually. Merck did something almost identical to the situation you described. However the story has now broke and Merck are facing a potential $100 billion worth of lawsuits. 5000 cases are pending with the first already awarded to the litigating party to the tune of 250 million!
This is the case with practically every drug on the market. They all have unwanted side effects to some degree and yes they are evaluated in a similiar fashion to what you have suggested. How the hell else are they supposed to do it? You want to pull 90% of the drugs from the market because they have bad side effects in some individuals?
You will also find many of the same compounds that are made by different manufacturers where one maker pulls it because they do not want to assume the risk when the other keeps it on the market because they know the income generated will far outweigh the cost of litigation.
Death is not just bad side effect?!? I think they should pull out of the market medications with lethal side effects... Pragmatist the point was that money are more important than human lives
