White House staffers owe more than $800,000 in back taxes - POLITICO.com

As President Obama has called for all Americans to pay their fair share in taxes, Investor's Business Daily columnist Andrew Malcolm notes that the White House staff owes a pretty hefty amount of back taxes to Uncle Sam: "A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama's executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for [Obama] apparently haven't paid any share, let alone their fair share. Previous reports have shown how well-paid Obama's White House staff is, with 457 aides pulling down more than $37 million last year. That's up seven workers and nearly $4 million from the Bush administration's last year. "

The report is part of an annual IRS review of unpaid taxes by government workers across the executive agencies and Congress — and the White House actually has a much lower tax delinquency rate than many of the agencies and Congress. Still, the report is certainly political fodder as President Obama highlights the need for all Americans to sacrifice for the common good.

To be fair, Tim Geithner could really be driving up that average.

Why are you surprised? Just look at who is in Obama's cabinet. Hell his secretary of treasury ended up owing the IRS a while back.

I am sure there are loads of folks on each side of the aisle that owe back taxes. Look at Nicholas Gage and his 6 million in arrears and Wesley Snipes still in federal prison for his tax antics. Look at all the big corporations who have been sued by the Federal government in the last 12 months for failure not only to pay but even report on time and not applying for a extension. If I were Obama and these folks did NOT settle these federal obligations by June 2012, they would be terminated and thus be looking for a job as well as having to pay their due monies. This reminds me of the Republican, Joe Walsh who owes $117,437.00 in back child support and he is suppose to be Pro Family? If this were someone like me or the average joe or Jane we would have been jailed a long time ago for this very same thing. Doesn't he make about $175,000.00 a year as a representative in Congress? Can he not get a lone to pay the monies? Whay hasn't he been taken to task forr his law breaking offense? Failure to pay child support was made a felony under the Clinton Administration.....has their been a change in that or are our public representatives immune from that like they are so many other laws we average American are forced to follow?
