    US religion polling info

Lotsa interesting surveys of murcans and their religious outlook.. Public Religion Research

this one I find kinda amusing..

Few Americans see earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters a sign from God
The new PRRI/RNS Religion News Survey was conducted by Public Religion Research Institute in partnership with Religion News Service following the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Among White evangelicals, 67% believe that natural disasters are evidence of what the Bible calls the 'end times
Among Republicans, 52% believe that natural disasters are evidence of what the Bible calls the 'end times'

    Public Religion Research - Research

    "end of times", really?

Religion is taking over our government. This is bad. It will be worse when the dominant religion is something other than Evangelical Christianity.

ohnow, it's not all doom und gloom... as it turns out, most Catholics in the US are liberal:

Majority of U.S. Catholics back gay rights in survey | FaithWorld | Analysis & Opinion | Reuters.com
In spite of, or perhaps because of, Roman Catholic church teachings condemning homosexuality, many lay Catholics in the United States be more accepting toward same-sex relationships than the general public, a new survey found.

American Catholics also tended to be more liberal than evangelical and mainline Protestants, the researchers said. The conclusions fit with a strong pattern of liberalism among Catholics that stands in opposition to the church hierarchy, said Michele Dillon, a sociologist at the University of New Hampshire asked by researchers to comment. There has been a gulf on social issues between church teachings and the American laity since the mid-1970s on subjects such as abortion, divorce without an annulment, premarital sex and artificial contraception.

“Catholics make up their own minds about these moral issues irrespective – or almost in spite of – what the bishops and official church teachings say,” Dillon said.

I'm just gonna move to Washington. State with the second highest percentage of non-religious people. Not necessarily atheist, or anything like that, just people who don't give a fuck. Colorado has the highest, but I like Washington's climate more.

I'd rather see them in a zoo setting, but yes, I love everything about Washington's climate, and how it mixes with the landscape. Snowcapped mountains, misty coniferous forests, ambient harbors, and Seattle is a dream-city for a hipster like myself.

You know, I totally misunderstood that for a sec, Washington St. is kinda a zoo hub, so yeah, totally understandable on my part LMAO

Anyway, more serious note, I love rainy weather so I'm pretty sure I'd be pretty happy there.

As someone who lives 30 minutes from Washington States weather, but generally has professional jobs that keep him indoors except for the commute.

I kind like the climate here too.

But I have a feeling the road crews out there trying to spend all the government's budget before April would disagree. They probably like the Sudan's weather right about now.
