CLEVELAND -- Rep. Dennis Kucinich said Friday that he settled a lawsuit filed against a Capitol Hill cafeteria over a split tooth he says he suffered when he bit into an pit in a sandwich wrap.
The lawsuit filed in early January in Washington had sought $150,000 in damages from companies involved with the Longworth House Office Building cafeteria. The lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed amount that reflected out-of-pocket costs, according to the parties involved.
The Ohio congressman said biting into the pit in April 2008 split a tooth down to the bone, caused excruciating pain and required reconfigured bridgework. The damaged tooth became infected, and he suffered a reaction to an antibiotic and an intestinal obstruction that required emergency medical attention, Kucinich said.
The initial operation to replace the split tooth failed and required a second attempt, he said.
None of the dental expenses were covered by insurance, he said.


I just had an implant done at a cost of about $5000. the insurance took that down about $1500,so $3500 was my cost. $150000 for a his dental work is a really inflated. the failed first implant was not the fault of the restaurant nor was bridge work problems. I don't know what he actually got in the law suit, but I would bet the cost ran no higher then $10000

Dang, He's 61 and she's 30. She can have whatever she wants. Now I know why he wanted so much lawsuit money.

Hmmm waits to get married until he is in his late 50's.....so like most Democrats, he was out visiting hookers, call girls, or escorts. Of course always blaming the right hand for not knowing what his left was doing.....

The thing that kills me about Kucinich.....here is he is on National and Worldwide Television and he is talking about Issa and the filing of friviolous lawsuits. Here he files one. Yet Kucinich put in his documentaion of such that he lost enjoyment due to the injury. (chuckling and with such a statement, God I could take that one somewhere lol)

He also said it affected his speech.....yet a few days after he filed this. He had no problem being on the floor of the house and speaking for like an hour and apparently with no problems.....

I am up in the air about this.

It appears he did have to pay money for damage resulting from a product that was described to be different from what it was. So he suffered a loss. His insurance fudged out on him and he was out of pocket as a result of a company that had misrepresented their product by claiming the pits had been removed.
(perhaps there is a usage of the word 'pitted' that allows the inclusion of pits in corporation speak.)
