Which is exactly the point Maher makes in this segment of his show.

Love Maher, his new rules bit is usually hysterical. Sure he is a smug bastard, but agree with the vast majority of stuff he says and he's funny.

It's funny, sounds like he is calling out Kmiller with the comment about people claiming Darwinism and global warming is a religion LOL

All comedy is mockery, making fun of things, people, etc.

But most is not nearly that blatant.

Like i said, I have mixed feelings on it. It was funny, and, yes, most comedy is based on mockery. And it did serve a point.
But this was over the top to me, and meant solely to ridicule a specific group.

    Perhaps, but perhaps not.

Ask those Mormons who decided to posthumously baptize non-mormons if they ever considered the feelings of the living relatives of the deceased.

So, perhaps Maher wasn't singling out one group at all, but rather, attacking an idea that I indeed find strange, namely, that people suddenly feel empowered to change the religous status of a person after his death. Very, very wierd.

And since Mitt Romney's father-in-law, an avowed atheist who heaped scorn upon religion in life, was posthumously baptized by the LDS church, Maher decided to "unbaptize" him.

Some may find it funny. Others may be insulted. But Maher is making a very specific point here:

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.

    Thoughts?
That's easy to answer. Because Maher is a mean spirited, unfunny little troll who likes to mock religious beliefs.

If he's singling out an idea that only one group holds, what's the difference?

As for the Mormons, I'm sure they didn't consider the feelings of the relatives. I'm also not arguing that they were in the right.

Well, that would be the cheap, unresearched answer from someone who did not take time to actually watch the video.

Are we 100% sure that only Mormons do posthumous baptisms or any kind of posthumous rites on people that did not belong to their faith in life?
