Thread: Christianity - another view

Okay - someone sent this to me in an email - and I have to admit I find it funny. Perhaps that's because I've never been a Christian, so I see the religion from an outsiders view. Even moreso is the fact that my experience with Xtians has been very mixed. Some seem to folow this version of the religion.

That's Jim Cavezeal playing Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. That was one hell of a hard movie to watch.

The teachings of Jesus if properly adapted and taught to suit the day should make you feel like you just saw a 1950's-1960's Disney movie, like Pollyanna, or Herbie, or The Apple Dumpling Gang. That's feeling good right there and that's worth money. Ever since the Church lost their political influence in the new world, they have had the collection plate as their means of survival. So psychotherapy is what Church now uses to keep em' contributing.

In the bleak dark old days the Crowns of Europe gave money to the Pope and formed tight relationships the Cardinals on the local level who performed crowd control. You had to have an ordained person burn someone, or excommunicate someone. And that science fiction element, psychic vibes, magic serpents, you'd have been scared as hell back then and most likely would have done what you're told. So I submit to you that when the Church was in the security business, all that stuff was very effective and the Church was a profitable business. You can't blame people back then for not seeing around that.
