Sounds kind of sexist to me. Like that whole, "Eve tempted Adam and therefore she bares the blame" bullshit.

What the Vatican does is none of our business. They have their reasons, obviously. Women are not as good as the men when it comes to this sort of thing, perhaps, like other things.
1 Corinthians 14:
34 Women should be silent during the church meetings. It is not proper for them to speak. They should be submissive, just as the law says. 35 If they have any questions, they should ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to speak in church meetings.
Babs:
Both books of Corinthians are what makes me deny the New Testament most of all. Lord Paul seems to make most of the "Rules" of Christianity, as he claims to be speaking on behalf of Christ. Would Christ have said this?
What kind of nonsense is this? Wome are not less smart and some women are stronger than some men. The are different (Thank God) but not inferior. the differences may even lead to different interests and different spiritual strenghts but your interpretation is way off.
There is no reason to think that women would be less capable than men in this area. There were plenty of women leaders throughout the early church. In just a few churches in Corinth women were leaders, just not leaders of men. This had to do with the different customs that the people in that culture believed about women's roles and nothing to do with the abilities of the women. Paul clearly said that he was speaking on his own behalf on not for Christ when as the leader of the Corinthian church he made the decision for women not lead men. It is very clear from reading Paul's letters to the churches he lead that there were lasting principles and cultural policies and they were not the same. One of paul's principles was for the church to "be all things to all people" and adjust to the times and places in which it existed. Only then would the church be in a position to create change - and history shows us that wherever the church thrives the rights of women increase.
