NEW YORK (AP) _ A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday on hate-crime charges after he threw a Quran in a toilet at Pace University on two separate occasions, police said.

Stanislav Shmulevich of Brooklyn was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, both hate crimes, police said. It was unclear if he was a student at the school. A message left at the Shmulevich home was not immediately returned.

So let me get this right it is now a crime in America to throw a book in the toilet. I have a copy of the Quran, I think I'll get drunk tonight BBQ some pork chops, drizzle the fat on my Quran then set it on fire in protest. This is bullshit. ~ joebobkc

haha...I love being back here after 5 days away so I can see statements such as this one . I don't believe in any religion but I was brought up in a Southern Baptist household and I'm pretty sure if you walked into a church and lit the Bible on fire they would just sit there and not care.

As far as the OP goes, who cares? You're not beating the crap out of someone just because they're a certain religion or race, it's JUST a book. This is almost as ridiculous as flag burning. Hooray for tyranny!
