Thread: Justice or Mercy?

At some point everyone has probably done something illegal, or of which they are ashamed. Assume now that you have been found out, and your action (illegal/immoral/other) has been discovered and brought to light. Which do you hope for from those who will judge you and your actions, justice or mercy? Why?

I would opt for mercy. A life of absolute justice would be harsh indeed.

Mercy would be great, but then have you really repayed your debt to society? I pick Justice. In the end I will feel better that I repayed my debt.

Now you got me curious. Do you have your neighbors in your basement fridge?

Justice doesn't necessarily exclude mercy.

I beleive people should, in one way or another, ALWAYS be held to account for their actions.

If it was me, I'd probably be selfish and want mercy.

I would hope for a correct and true judgement laced with infinate mercy

Justice when I am the victim. Mercy whenever I am not.
