I've been mulling it over for a while now, and I think there are allot of similarites between the Christian beleif and it's founder and StarWars.
An AntiChrist: Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine both fill this role. They are both evil of course. But Vader is under the influence of Palpatine in the same way that the antichrist is thought to be the guy most under the influence of the devil. Under that influence he does terrible things, carrying out the devil's will.
Palpatine also can fill the role of antichrist. It is thought that the anti christ would rise to prominence as a politician. He would be persuasive and charming and manipulative. These are probably the traits that came to mind when you thought of Senator Palpatine in the new trilogy. It is also beleived the anti christ would gain power through some kind of international organisation such as the United Nations or the European Union. Senator Palpatine again fulfills this requirement as a Senator in the Galactic Senate, who later becomes Supreme Chancellor of the Senate through the offering of a solution to some big problem, in this case the Clone Wars, which he himself instigated and was orchestrating behind the scenes.
And lastly, he-like the anti christ-is under the influence of some malelvolent force. Instead of Lucifer, he is under the influence of the Dark Side of the Force, a vaguely spiritual concept in the movie.
Teachings of love and peace: I think the Jedi Order embody this pretty well. They teach humility, not being interested in material goods, loving your neighbor, fighting for good.
A Christlike figure: Luke Skywalker was my first choice. But actually, if one thinks about it, Anakin Skywalker AKA Darth Vader is the proper choice. Although Anakin joins the Dark Side, in the process his "good self" seems to die which is why Obi Wan Kenobi tells Luke that Vader killed his father. When Anakin joined the Dark Side, he was like a different person, the Anakin we all knew was gone or "dead".
In the end of the Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader kills Emperor Palpatine and brings balance to the force, however he also dies in the process. In this way hes kind of like Jesus who died and forgave us of our sins.
Alternatively, one could consider Luke Skywalker reedeeming his father and revitalising the Jedi as being traits of Jesus in that Jesus redeemed people and started a religion centered around loving thy neighbor and around God.
A Lucifer-like figure: In the Bible, Lucifer was God's most intelligent, most beautiful, and most favored angel. However, Lucifer was arrogant and proud and challenged God, so God threw him into the lake of fire.
Anakin Skywalker was more attuned to the force than anyone. He was also Obi Wan's apprentice. Obi Wan loved Anakin "like a brother". Anakin was also arrogant and proud. He resented what he thought was Obi Wan and the Jedi "holding him back". He thought he deserved more power, like Lucifer, and for that along with saving Padme (his wife), he decided to serve Palpatine (lucifer) and turn on his master. Him and his master durring the final movie, fought a furious battle which in the end, involved Anakin losing one arm and two legs, along with being burnt alive. He was saved by Palpatine however, and became Darth Vader, and swore to fight against the Jedi and therefore against good. Similar to what Lucifer does to humans, God's creations.
They also have other similarities such as the concept of good and evil, one has the Roman Empire and the other has The Empire. They both have a concept of a spiritual force that controls things.
I could go on forever listing other similarities, but I'm really tired and I gotta stop. So what do you guys think?
