    Who is Good?

Fess up people. Which of you are perfect? Which of you has never done anything you regret or are ashamed of or that you just acknowledge was wrong. Who has never done anything immoral or unethical, either by your own standards or by the standards which are universally accepted? Are you blameless?

If you are perfect are you then prideful?

Who thinks that none of us is perfect?

If someone does check that they are perfect do you agree with them?

Not me... just another sinner. I am not good. I am forgiven, however.

I try to plumb the depths of depravity every single day.

Sorry people I seem to hve messed this up and it just started.

Both of the first two voted "not perfect" and yet there is a vote for each category. And man you are fast kmiller. I didn't even get to see what it looked like after making it and you already voted.

Then I choose for the poll to show who voted for what and it doesn't.

Must one be perfect to be good? I believe that is a Christian concept - regardless of how good you are, you are not good enough.

Your actual poll question should be: Who is perfect? That would make it match the OP. Or have you purposefully equated the good with the perfect and blameless?

    Re: Who is Good?

    Perfection is an imperfection.
Why would you want to be perfect anyway? Thta would make life excrutiatingly dull and predictable.

You are right. Being good is equated with being perfect, that is a Christian concept and since I am a Christian that is the way I made it. But everyone is welcome to make a poll based on their concepts.

So knowing that Christians equate being good with being perfectly good is it any surprise that they think no one is good? When they say no one is good, is it an insult? Or are they just indicating that everyone has the same human nature, which includes being imperfect? When they say "all have sinned" are they picking on people?

So far the only person who could take offense and be consistent in his beliefs is Burning Giraffe. Unless he really doesn't think he is perfect.

    Re: Who is Good?

A man approached the gate of heaven and found St. Peter there with a large book in front of him...

Believing he had lived a righteous life, he approached St. Peter with pride and said... " I am ready to receive my reward in heaven!"

St. Peter smiled and said.... "Well, to get into heaven you will need 100 green stamps, so tell me about your life...

The man was shocked with this strange request, but was confident he would pass this test.

"I married as a virgin and was faithful to my wife our whole married life!"

The reply came back after a few moments of St.Peter looking through the big book, "That's worth one green stamp!"

The man was panicked.... his mind began to race.. he had assumed that he had earned his way into heaven years ago. He was a confident and proud man of faith!!!

"I gave 20% of my income to the church my whole working life!"

    "One green stamp...."

Now he was desperate and running out of pious accomplishments......

"um ah... I devoted 2 years of my life to the mission field after college!"

    "One green stamp....."

The man had now reached the end of his patience and was beginning to imagine the fires of hell. He fell to his knees and said softly, with no pride at all.....

"At this rate, the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God..."

    St. Peter smiled and said:

    "That's worth 100 green stamps!"
