    Christianity and Extraterrestrials

First of all i want to say that i don't believe in flying saucers and aliens visiting Earth but that is not to say that i do not believe in extraterrestrial life and wondered if this contradicts christianity?

This is exactly why the belief that humanity is special is utterly absurd. Im very sure that any other sapient life form will have imagined deities in their own image - the probability is likely that humanity is not unique in that regard.

Actually, there are references in the Bible some consider to be describing UFO's such as Ezekiel's wheel, the cloud and fire that guided moses, the raining of manna, Jacobs Ladder, etc. There was a link where a guy puts his argument all together, if I can find it I'll post it.

Does it dispell religion, not really. It is possible gods of anceint times were simply more advanced civilizations or species. If you read about Adam and Eve, it sounds like there could have genetic engineering involved. Actually, reading the Bible from this sense may make help clear up some things such as in "our image," "Don't bow before any other God," and the list goes on. as far as aliens or other intelligent life existing, its nearly mathmatically impossible for them not to exists. Have they visited Earth, who knows?

This post is for entertainment purposes only, no need to flame with pages of scripture or post showing how cool you are.

I would say yes, more than one different types of beings are described in the Bible, many are discounted to myth by some and other are simply group as either angels or demons. Elohim, cherubs, nephilium, serpant, serophim, etc. Lucifer was sent to here for creation before he fell from grace. Then God created Adam and Eve, told them to replenish and have dominion over the Earth. If we look at from this perspective, it is possible beings were sent in many areas to create. it may be also possible that Adam and Eve are generations or slightly difference species. After Cain killed Able, he feared that others would take his life but if there were only 4 people who would take his life? This may explain the gnostic christian view that man was created by an imperfect god (with a lower case g) but theres does exist a perfect and transcidental God of which some say may have sent Jesus. Of course, these are just ideas, you shoudl research and determine for yourself. I haven't had time to look into these areas and study them for myself yet so I am just proposing ideas I have heard from others.

Also, the term heaven seems to talk about different things. For instance in Genesis, it seems to describe the sky and maybe solar system in one part rather than the Utopian place described later int he Bible.

I was just reading a site about this yesterday. I doubt I could find it again, you know how it is with google searches, they lead down many rabbit trails.

Anyway the majority of thought seemed to be that the Bible is pretty silent on this. Not even much incidental or inferred references to it.

The main thoughts for ET's seemed to be "Well, He made other planets why not other life?"

The main thought against ET's seemed to be "when the universe ends as a result of Christ's return here then those living out there would die without salvation."

I don't buy this because there is no reason God could not time their storyline/timetable to coincide with ours.

So in short I would quote a famous expert on the subject.

    "Hmm, Could be?"

I mean, we know there are literally an infininte number of stars out there which by logical conclusion means there are also an infinite number that are similiar to our sun. If there are also an infinite number of planets revolving around these suns with some having similiar atmospheric conditions to us, would it not be rather narrow-minded to conclude that Earth is the only one with life on it? Would it not be utterly ridiculus?

And if there are other places like Earth with life, do they have their own God? Or is one guy in charge of the whole thing? I kinda think it is the latter and God is not necessarily good by any means. I think he may have pitched life out on a whole bunch of earths and is sitting back watching what is going on but not having any control as to how each planets life forms evolve or how long they last. Is he saying wow, look at how far advanced the earthlings are or, wow, what a bunch of fools?

Present scientific thought is that there is a limit to the size of the universe and that therefore there is a limited number of stars.

??? Christianity...isn't that the religion that believes in a heaven and a human as being a son of God....the Jesus story and heaven story are as extraterrestrial in nature as you can get....come to think of it so is Satan so I would not worry about whether its consistent with Christianity or not.

Think for yourself and don't allow any religion to repress or restrict your fere thought and creative thought processes.

Wouldn't common sense tell you from what you cna observe on your own planet that life is infinite in variation and possibility? Does it make sense life would be so varied on this planet but simply end on this planet?
