Hello, name's StrawHat. I'm hoping that I can learn a lot on this forum and increase my knowledge of politics and other major issues as well as augment my mental capacities through debate.
Nice to be here.:waving:

(I don't know about what yet - will catch you in the forum)
Well Ausinus, I've been thinking about that lately. I guess if someone else were to classify me, i'd come out as a moderate. My beliefs do fall in the middle of the political spectrum for the most part. I don't really think of myself this way though, since I feel that moderate political stances are based primarily in compromise. While compromise is well and good in the real world, as far as theoretical ideologies, I think that there is right and wrong, and tend to feel pretty strongly about these. Thing is, what I believe just happens to fall in the middle os the spectrum, so i'm not sure if moderate is necessarily the appropriate word.
I'll be more specific:
Economically: I believe in conservative spending/fiscal responsibility, but in the end I really would prefer to help people out, even if the budget wasn't always balanced.
Socially: As far as my personal beliefs, I am a practicing non-denominational Christian and I lean slightly to the right, however I also feel that I ought not impose my beliefs on others. This makes me very ambivalent on a lot of issues, except for abortion. It is regretable, and I understand the arguments from all sides and largely agree in principle, but can't bring myself to just be ok with waht I feel is destroying life.
Foregin Policy: I am a firm believer in diplomacy and cooperation. We should be working with our allies and not isolating ourselves. However, I also recognize that America occupies a position in the world that mkes us a very big target, so we may have to move with more urgency than most in protecting ourselves. It's an iffy business, and I like to go on a case by case basis.
Uh-oh, I'm here.
Remember how the last intro thread I get involved in ended, Ausinus (prolly not, actually)?
I agree entirely.Economically: I believe in conservative spending/fiscal responsibility, but in the end I really would prefer to help people out, even if the budget wasn't always balanced.
What I don't support is making other people help out.
Being pro-life has nothing to do with forcing your way of life on others.Socially: As far as my personal beliefs, I am a practicing non-denominational Christian and I lean slightly to the right, however I also feel that I ought not impose my beliefs on others.
