Should Tattoos and Body Piercings be legislated for Minors? Or should it be between parents and children without state involvement?

Parents and kids. If you can't control your kid thats your problem, not the state's.

I think minors should not be able to receive either without parental consent if that's what you're asking. While it's a generally standard procedure of each these days if proper care is not administered afterward it can cause some pretty fucked up problems.

Of course, a kid could still go black market, but chances are if your kid gets a black market tattoo then you have bigger issues other than the resultant body art.

Tattoo and piercing parlors are regulated by license here in Wisconsin by whatever municipality they happen to be located in. They're inspected by municipal or county health officials. That said if some parent is going to be so stupid as to approve of their child getting a life long reminder of something they may regret later in life, hey, have at it. Remember folks, the little $100. tattoo costs over $5000. to remove using a laser during some very painful sessions at the dermatologist's office.

I know of a couple in Washington state that tattoo'd thier infant on the ankle with a rose. By the time she grew up it was above her knee and didn't look like a rose anymore. No tattoo artist should tattoo growing children even if the parent's say it's okay. But getting one has been about the best way to piss somebody off who doesn't think you should have one. I say nobody under 18 with or without consent.

That's precisely what I told Kyle. He's 6'1, sprouted 7 inches this past year.

I told him the tattoo he wanted last year would have looked like crap right now.

He's content until he sees a slow-up in his growth spurt, and trust me, he's monitoring it.
