We don't get snow here very often, but its been sort of a normal winter for us. 40-45 degrees and humid - which is just bone chilling sometimes. Worse than snowy days as far as cold goes IMO. I've been up north quite a bit, lived in Montana and it was frozen but dry and it felt easier to stay warm. Here it can be 70 degrees in the house and you feel like your going to shake out of your skin due to the humidity combined with the cold. Ah the Texas coast.

Well I am taking the daughter snowboarding today. Well she boards, I find something to do. All snow from the snow guns. Just seems kind of weird. I don't mind a late start, I just hope it doesn't extend beyond our normal early April. Don't mess with spring and summer!! We have definitely not had an extended summer the last couple of years. Labor day weekend and it starts turning colder.

Nothing in Pa so far. I love snow, and disappointed we haven't seen any. Only good thing is, the heating bill is low. Usually runs $400 a month, so far nothing much above $100. Yeah, lovin' that, but i want snow. Global warming? La Nina? Watch, we'll get hammered come January, and no relief til around March.

Weakest December around here (Eastern Washington) in at least ten years. Got one snowfall right around Thanksgiving, looked like it was going to set in pretty good but it only amounted to about 3 inches and then was gone by the end of the next day. Nothing since then. They aren't even really getting it in the nearby mountains either.

    It's quiet... too quiet.
Take me home Momma and put me to bed. I have seen enough to know I have seen too much.

Now's when the Republican flunkies are supposed to chime in that obviously global warming is real because it's been warmer than usual.

Or does that horseshit only surface when it snows more than usual for a couple of months, and so obviously global warming is a farce?

    People can be so ignorant.

High desert most often refers to Eastern Oregon but there are some similarities with parts of Eastern Washington too. I'm nestled right up against the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains so we don't get near the precipitation of the west side though we typically (not this year) get a whole lot more snow. It makes for quite a diverse selection of landscape with this just a few minutes to the west:

and this not too far to the east:

...anyway, yeah... not much snow yet this year.

Incorrect. "high desert" refers to arid desert areas that are 5000ft and above. Albuquerque sits in a high desert as does most of sw colorado among other areas in the west.
