Who do you think is the best basketball player ever?
Probably Obama.![]()
I'm going with Wilt Chamberlain.
Oscar Robertson... best balance of stats: points, assists and rebounds, a total player:
If his first five seasons are strung together, Robertson averaged a triple-double over these 400+ games, averaging an incredible 30.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 10.6 assists. For his career, Robertson had 181 triple-doubles, a record that has never been approached. These numbers are even more astonishing if it is taken into account that the three-point shot did not exist when he played, which was introduced by the NBA in the 1979–80 season and benefits sharpshooting backcourt players. In 1967–68, Robertson also became the first of only two players in NBA history to lead the league in both scoring average and assists per game in the same season (also achieved by Nate Archibald). The official scoring and assist titles went to other players that season, however, because the NBA based the titles on point and assist totals (not averages) prior to the 1969–70 season. Robertson did, however, win a total of six NBA assist titles during his career.

Oscar Robertson is who I want to give it to and I can't really argue with anyone who does so. I usually fall back on Magic Johnson though. I hate the Lakers too. But that guy was exceptional... great stats, made everyone around him better, and the clincher for me is that at 6'9" he could and did play all five positions on the court... even Center.
I hate the Lakers.
Take me home Momma and put me to bed. I have seen enough to know I have seen too much.

Anyone that doesn't say Michael Jordan hasn't watched basketball, or are just trying to answer non-conventionally.

I disagree. I think that those that say Michael Jordan might be brainwashed or think that high flying, flashy moves means a player is the best.
What is your criteria for determining who the best basketball player ever is?
