People there latch on to the fence and basically get their feet blown out from under them while the plane are revving up for take off. They forget things like rocks and sand hurt.

Now that I think about it, my aunt told me about this years ago. She said that everyone would go out onto the beach and wave to the passengers as they landed. She travels the Caribbean a lot.
