Thread: What do you hate?

My 1000th post, full of burning hatred, just the way I like 'em.

What I hate:

"Nude shoes." No, they do NOT make anyone's legs look longer, and no, they do NOT go with everything. And if they're ugly, which they always always always are, they look a LOT worse than ugly black shoes. Stop the demented trend.

Is that a picture of them there?

I hate waiting in line. Especially if I can see that I have to wait longer because the staff is slacking or, more often, the people ahead of me are idiots.
"Ummm let's see what do I want?" Really?! You've been standing in front of a billboard sized menu for the past 10 minutes. What have you been thinking about all this time?

"Indie Rock."

Yeah, I know. Technically, that's the category my own band gets lumped into. But I hate it. And I don't think my band is "Indie." In fact, if anything we're COdie (codependent).

What "Indie Rock" has come to mean to me is a four-piece (two guitars doing essentially the same thing in unison, bass and drums) who make AN EFFORT to LOOK like they didn't make an effort getting dressed in any meaningful way.

Their favorite guitars are Gibson SGs, but they don't sound ANYTHING like Angus Young. In fact, they mostly strum them with an up-and-down motion that looks like starting a chainsaw.

The songs typically start with :30 to a full minute of vamping on a few chords, as if it's dramatic.

Lyrics are banal, mundane observations, sometimes neurotic (but not like the Talking Heads).

The guys tend to have beards.

You can't dance to it. People just stand around the stage and maybe nod their heads.

It's too loud for what they're playing.

I don't play Indie Rock, I play punk rock, as in the late 70s.

I FUCKING HATE "Indie Rock." I wish they'd all sell out.

Hypocrisy

Oh...what's even worse is a TWO-PIECE Indie Rock band.

Would it KILL YOU to get a bass player????

And Meg White had to be the world's WORST professionally touring drummer.
