Kitteh addiction to freshly poured dry food

My cats are not particularly picky eaters, but they will come RUNNING when I pour new food into their dish...even if it's similar to the stuff they had yesterday. Just the sound of the bag makes them appear from nowhere.

Wonder if that's only my cats, or if this is universal?

I had a cat for fifteen years named Spunky. He acted that way with the bag of food but bar the door if I opened a can of tuna!

When i am out on my job i have this one house that always has this cat out side. All winter and Summer. You can tell he is an outdoor cat. But these people must not ever feed him. Anyhow now when I have to show up there.....he seems to recognize my car. I have brought him food a couple of times and now he must recognize the shape of the car. For when he see it he now comes ruuning down towards the street then stops to see if I will get out. Once I do he walks right over to me and rubs his head and body on my leg. I feel for the little guy. Been in some tuffs and is really muscular for his size.

Althought when I drove the Explorer he did not come down to the street. Its just when I drive the car.

Cats are all about freshness. Dogs are carrion eaters, cats are not. And for most cats, it's not about the food as much as it is about the service. They just love the idea that your going to some degree of effort to do something for them.

Never had a cat, but my dog doesn't care about her own food at all, she just wants whatever I have. She magically appears whenever I go in the kitchen. She considers dry food as a last resort. That's my babe =)

My cats will kill a chipmunk and eat it's entire skull, fur and all. But if I give them a piece of chicken skin and they glare at me with extremely offended looks on their faces.

I have 2 cats. One will eat anything. The other one will sit by a 1/2 full bowl of food and stare at it and then meow at me. She will not eat it until I put new food in the bowl. I have tried removing the bowl, stirring it around and putting it back. She fell for that once, but not a second time.

I let the dish get completely empty now and then - that changes their attitude pdq if you can tolerate the nagging. Another trick is switching food. I buy big bags, but often save some of the old stuff in one of those big popcorn cans and when they don't want to eat what'd in their dish I give them some of last month's food, whcih suddenly is new and interesting to them.

Or put the food in the treat bag. They don't understand packaging.
