My dad taught me when I was 10~, then at 13 I owned my first gun, a bolt action .22. I used to hit a jackrabbit running at a couple hundred yards.
Your turn.

My dad when I was around 11 I started going hunting with him. Before that I had a pellet gun.
I learned to shoot in marksmanship class in college. The instructor saw that while I wasn't a bad shot, I wasn't very enthusiastic about the class. After the first week or so, he made a deal with me.
Apparently, his budget had been cut, and there was a lot less ammo to go around. He told me that if I attended two more "safety classes" (in the classroom) and two more "shooting classes" (on the range), I could skip the rest of the semester's classes, and he'd give me a passing grade. As a result, the other students would have more ammo at their disposal.
I took the deal. It was a win-win-win for me, the teacher, and the other students.![]()
I was 12, I went to some shooting camp with some shooting genious or something teaching it. My parents didn't have to pay because my uncle was a coach. It really helped too, I went from barely being able to hit a free throw to being a real terror from three point range.
I'm not as fast with the first step as I used to be but you'd better get a hand in my face at 15-18 feet or I'm taking you to skool.
I shot a gun last October when I visited my brother in Canada, he's a constable. That's how I learned to shoot.
I grew up on a ranch of about 3800 acres. I used to hunt squirrels and rabbits at 9 or 10 with my grandfathers old breach loading 10 Gague. It would damn near knock me on my ass every time I fired it. First gun, semi auto Marlin 22 LR, christmas, I must have been 12 or 13. I was a dead eye too, but mainly hunted squirrels. There was a rabbit fever outbreak and everyone quit eating them. First big bore, 16th birthday (I remember cause I got my drivers license) Winchester model 99 saddle rifle. Shot lots of deer and hogs. I still have both those guns.
Still shoot occasionally, although haven't hunted in a while. Have you noticed that there is shortage of ammunition lately. Went to pistol range here is houston last week. Could find no Tokarov 7.62's and had to go to 4 stores to find 45 longs and 3 to find 32 auto's. Lead shortage? or government interference?
Ammo and guns are being sold at a breakneck pace, but here also a kicker, FEMA is putting up big bucks, and buying tons of ammo, and now the military is selling their used brass for scrap, even though it is worth less then casings. Do you see a pattern??
Good post, I will green it, and you grew up the way most kids can't these days, I bet your pretty good with your hands, and when shit gets real bad, I am sure your gardening skills and hunting experience will pay off big! Have fun.
I will have to owe you the green, I pay my bills!!
ummm, i guess around 10ish. my dad got me a bb gun. i promptly shot my cousin in the forehead (by accident) and it was taken away for a bit.
well, you should see me shoot with a pistol then. lol.
