How about a Holiday Season Thread.....

I love the Holiday Season, been gettin' my shopping done, gonna put up the tree the day after Thanksgiving while the wife is sleeping in, gonna put fake antlers on the hound dog and take her picture for the family Christmas card, mabe put on my elf suit for the picture as well, don't know if it's back from the cleaners. Probably the only thing I dislike about the Season is Fruitcake that has too many currants and raisins and not enough candied cherries, green or red they rock the Fruitcake. The Holiday Season always seem to bring out the best in people.

What do you enjoy the most about the Holiday Season?

    Hey, great thread EE!

Please, post a picture of your dog with those antlers.

I really like playing with my dogs in the snow, midnight mass on Christmas Eve and the smell of a blue spruce tree in the living room. But what I enjoy most is helping serve a Christmas Day dinner at the local homeless shelter. I really enjoy talking to the down on their luck vets, especially Vietnam vets. It seems that there are more and more every year.

I love the Mercedes Benz commercials tempting me to buy a S class, wrap a big red bow on it, and hold my hands over my girlfriends eyes as I walk her out to the snow covered driveway.

Guaranteed that if you do that your wildest sexual fantasies will become reality.

I did that with my girlfriend but with a Camry. Incredible sex for months.

With respect and affection, are you sure your wife won't just have barricaded herself in the bedroom and be phoning the producers of "Intervention?"

Wife: "Yes an elf suit! It's the same suit he wears on St. Patrick's Day, but with mistletoe instead of shamrocks!"

What do I enjoy most? Hanging mistletoe in the gingivitis clinic. No really, I try to avoid the holidays. For bachelors over a certain age they are uncomfortable.

There is one thing I'm often asked to do though, that makes it hard to get away unscathed. If it happens this year, I'll report.

I love Chirstmas, but I like it to be discrete from Thanksgiving. When I was a kid, it was like a YEAR between the two holidays.

Okay, okay, I'll play the sentimental game.

When I was about 8, I got a crystal radio kit. Dad and I had to put it together, rolling wire around a toilet paper tube, hooking up the crystal and then put it into the space-age looking plastic radio housing it came with. THEN, my dad had to crawl out my window and shimmy out the gable of the roof (second story) and fix the end of the wire antenna on the very edge. As a little kid, I was in awe of his ability to do that without getting scared...on a cold December 26, too. Dad had been a radio man in the air force so he kind of got into it and I think he had made a crystal set when he was a kid.

It had an old hard plastic and metal head set because there was no amplifier.

So from Boxing Day threw New Year's Eve, I went to sleep listening to crystal radio music on WBT out of Charlotte...Johnny Horton, Tennessee Ernie Ford, some light rock, truck driver commercial, Floyd Cramer and, of course, Chirstmas music.

Mom was always worried that I'd strangle myself with the headphone cord. But I never did.

Good ideas and good memories all.
As a little EE I built many electronic kits, once I combined a tranceiver with a signal generator, within range I could over power TV signals and effectively jam the signal, I pissed a lot of neighbors off, as my pop scolded me in front of our pissed off next door neighbor, he did it with a proud gleam in his eye, later he examined it and helped me re-position my antenna for better range. Never tried the car with the ribbon idea, maybe next year. This year I'm gonna get a good goof off on the kids, the tree is in the front of the house, we have an open balcony so in the morning they can look out of their rooms and see the tree and all the BOOTY! This year, after they go to sleep I'm gonna drag the tree and all the stuff to the back of the house, in the morning they are gonna think the Grinch came by, gonna be a hoot!
