I have never participated in the annual spring break ritual of family vacations. The wifey says we are GOING to this year but we rfeally don't know where to go. We are familiar with some of the popular get trashed and watch the women in bikin destinations but we really aren't all that interested. We are really more interested in the southeast or northeast or somewhere in the middle that is a good family destination that boasts some things to do. It would be in early April, maybe some sightseeing of some sort, or if there is any skiing/snowboarding left to be had. Some swimming, maybe horseback riding, just something with some options.

    Any ideas?

April can still be cold along the Carolina coasts and in the mountains. My favorite place to go almost any time of the year is Charleston SC. There are a lot of historical things to do, Isle of Palms is close by and I'm sure there must be horseback riding and such within the area.

Charleston is a great city! I second that suggestion.

The coast of Maine is particularly scenic in early spring. You won't be disappointed. I've provided you with a link to lodgings in the Kennebunkport area. I've stayed there and they're wonderful.

You need to go someplace hot not some place that may be a little warm. I say go to Mexico but don't go to the college spring break locations such as Cancun. Instead go to Cozumel Island.

Although not my choice, it sounds like Orlando FL may be what you are looking for. With the exception of snowboarding you can do it all there and then some. You certainly will not run out of things to do unless you intend to stay a few months.

    Jiminy Peak, Mass.

They even have an amazing elk statue there. Well, it amazed me anyway.

Also, consider Vermont. The state has the most beautiful scenery I saw in the US (which admittedly isn't saying that much, but still.... I mean, it's all I got! ). I only spent a while in the Stowe / Killington / Lake Champlain area in May, but I'm fairly sure it's breathtakingly beautiful all year long.

Skiing there must be fantastic, of course, but there's lots of other things to do as well.
