Thread: The Kite Runner

Has anyone read this? I started it 4 times but stopped. I actually sat down today and I'm halfway through it now. It's fascinating. Sad and disturbing, but fascinating. I'm most interested in it because a friend of mine moved here from Afghanistan and it makes me wonder if that is what he went through when he came here. Of course I'm never going to ask..but...who else had read the book?

I've read it, I thought it was a really sad and disturbing story. The author has this really unique writing style, where he all of a sudden reveals something disturbing at the end of a paragraph or chapter through like two words, if you've noticed that. Overall I thought the story was well developed, it showed some factual aspects of afghan culture, and had a very good plot.
