    Week 3 of the NFL

The NFL Season has already proven to be surprising. The Carolina Panthers won their first two games. Matt Cassel has kept the New England Patriots undefeated regular season record alive after losing Tom Brady for the season in Week 1. Aaron Rodgers is money. Can anyone tell the difference between Carson Palmer and Joe Flaco? The NFC is sporting seven of the NFLs top ten teams. Jay Cutler is a stud. NFL games are getting hard to predict, what with relying on John Kitna for our predictions and all.

I must say that I am impressed with my Buffalo Bills. Their defense is quick and intelligent. Trent Edwards looks steady and in control of the offensive. We're a bit shallow on talent at the receiver position, but I think we can make up for that with special teams, which will allow the Bills more control over field position.

Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, Phillip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, and Drew Brees are money. These Quarterbacks give their teams a chance to win every week. This is the young crop that will eventually replace Donovan McNabb, Payton Manning, Brett Farve, and Tom Brady. While I expect McNabb, Manning, and Brady to be around for years to come, these younger QBs will quickly establish themselves and give these NFL greats a run for their money.

Reggie Bush is back. After a disappointing and uninspiring 2007 season, Reggie Bush appears to be the star we all expected him to be. Drew Brees and Reggie Bush make the New Orleans Saints explosive. With the right attitude and focus, the Saints could be a team capable of succeeding when their ahead and when their behind, which may be necessary given the obvious weaknesses in their defense.

It's been an exciting weak of football for me with both the Bills and Virginia Tech winning on 4th Quarter field goals. However, what worries me is that our opponents (Oakland Raiders & North Carolina Tar Heels) should not have been able to keep these games close. As was noted in the AP,

In a game they had no business winning, the Bills overcame three quarters of their own ineptitude to score 17 points in the final 8 minutes for a 24-23 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. (ESPN)
I always worry when a team has to overcome their own mistakes to win. But the Bills are a young team with a plethora of young talent.

Trent Edwards demonstrated why he is the future of this franchise yesterday though. Two scoring drives in the last few minutes of the game. This guy is brilliant. I'm not willing to celebrate him as the next Jim Kelly, but he is certainly going to be a heck of a QB. His football IQ seems extraordinary. Not surprising for a Stanford Quarterback.

I would think you would be hoping he is not another Jim kelly!
