Thread: Libertopia found!

I confess we've been kind of hard on our more strident libertarians. Maybe it's time we better understand what it is you guys are looking for.

So let's do a little exercise called "Libertopia Found."

Ready? Make your self very comfortable. Close your eyes...

Got 'em closed?

You're walking down a deserted stretch of National Seashore. The sun and the breeze feel wonderful. It's idyllic. And you stop just to enjoy the sensation.

You sit in the sand and find yourself becoming very drowsy. Soon you can't sit up and your eyes shut and you fall into a deep, deep satisfying sleep.

Some time later you wake up feeling wonderful! You're a little groggy, but you find that there is a 357 Magnum holstered in your snug Speedo. You're no longer on the sand but in a plush beach chair and the beach--ceramic tiled to the low tide line--is YOUR private beach! You know this because there are six or eight oil wells not far off shore, each with your name on it.

Ready? Slowly open your eyes...do some deep breaths.

Now. Tell us what YOUR libertopia looks like and tell us why the USA is a better nation for it!

Don't spend too much time, just write what comes to mind immediately!

This failed attempt at humor obviously doesn't belong in this section. Davy apparently feels threatened by libertarianism and its undeniable logic, which is why he sounds so desperate in trying to discredit anyone who advocates it. His ego just can't take it.

Save yourself some time and energy, just go stare in a river, Davy.

Sorry to spoil your vain attempt at humor, but let me remind you for at least the twentieth time; libertarians understand that utopia is not possible. There is only what works best. Socialist like you believe in the utopian safety net where one lives below a minimum level. So it's laughable for you to talk about "libertopia" (I guess the humor is in the irony).

So please, stop projecting the shortcoming of you belief system on sane and reasonable people.

No offense Defensor, but it's ok to laugh at yourself. Everybody laughs at me including myself. They say humor will make you live longer.

It was you, Defensors, and especially FFA's influence that made me realize the Libertarians are a bunch of greedy bastards. You guys aren't really good for the cause, but there are still some values I appreciate from the Libertarians, some from repubs, and some socialist ideologies. I keep an open mind, except when it comes to rightwing christianity and the Neocon agenda.
