    My Nan

I'm not religious, nor is this an experiance that will make me so...

My Nan, 87, has diabetes and dimentia (progressive for the last 18 years), and last week, on tuesday was getting out of a car when she tripped and fell, shattering her hip and left elbow.

Since going to hospital she has developed and has high sodium levels, preventing surgery that she needs - a replacement joint in her hip and her elbow rebuilt.

As it is she is fine in hospital - confused - she barely knows my mum (her daughter) at the best of times, so as long as she is comfy she feels at home. She isn't in pain, but her condition is serious. I saw her in hospital last night, and I must admit it was distressing. But what with other more minor issues I haven't bothered bringing it up here yet.

I have found out that she was religious when she had her senses, and while I have never truely known her - as I have gotten older her condition has deteriorated - I have no doubt it would be her wish, and would have made her happy to have people praying for her. Niether me nor my mum can do this, we don't believe, but it struck me maybe you guys can do that for her.

She goes into surgery on Monday, I'll be seing her tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Comrade

Well mate, I am like you and your mum in that I tend to be atheist, but that will not stop me praying to the gods of the universe that your nan gets better. Also if my best wishes can help, you have them in full. Hope it all turns out OK.

    Hang in there, mate! :waving:

    Update:

Nan's had her operation which went well, had both her hip and elbow sorted, however she still has a nasty chest infection.
On Tuesday the doctors feared she had had a minor stroke in the afternoons after a good night and morning, however after a scan today (wednesday) it turns out it was nothing of the sort, and while the next 24 hours are still critical, she only has the chest infection to worry about.

Docs expect to try to get nan to her feet on sat/sunday and work from there, so fingers crossed.

    Thanks for the support.

    Comrade
