My Nan, 87, has diabetes and dimentia (progressive for the last 18 years), and last week, on tuesday was getting out of a car when she tripped and fell, shattering her hip and left elbow.
Since going to hospital she has developed and has high sodium levels, preventing surgery that she needs - a replacement joint in her hip and her elbow rebuilt.
As it is she is fine in hospital - confused - she barely knows my mum (her daughter) at the best of times, so as long as she is comfy she feels at home. She isn't in pain, but her condition is serious. I saw her in hospital last night, and I must admit it was distressing. But what with other more minor issues I haven't bothered bringing it up here yet.
I have found out that she was religious when she had her senses, and while I have never truely known her - as I have gotten older her condition has deteriorated - I have no doubt it would be her wish, and would have made her happy to have people praying for her. Niether me nor my mum can do this, we don't believe, but it struck me maybe you guys can do that for her.
She goes into surgery on Monday, I'll be seing her tomorrow.
Thanks,
Comrade
