How much do you love your car?

I came to realise that I am a car tragic the other evening when I was watching Top Gear. James May was being laughed at coz he keeps a little art paint brush in the glove box, with which to clean the little fiddly bits around the switches.

Well, I don't keep one in my car, but I keep one in the garage for the same purpose. I hate to see any specks of dust on the interior surfaces of the Bimmer. I wipe over these surfaces daily.

I wash the engine regularly to remove any dust, and I take the removable carpets out and wash them in my aunt's bath tub. Then I put them in the spin dry until they are almost dry and hang them on the clothes line. I do this every month.

I carefully wash the leather seats and trim with a special soap and warm water, and I clean all the glass carefully so there are no smudges or finger prints. I do this weekly.

Is this what most other people do? Some of my mates do, but most don't, and I hate getting in their cars. Most of them are like a tip.

So how much do you love your car, and how do you show it that love?

I pass most of my gas in the car. I counter this with febreeze. I try to keep the inside clean, but washing the outside is futile for me. I will wash the outside once a couple of months.

I say nice loving things about Fiona, as she's nearing 110k miles, and I let her wind out to about 90 on curvy entrance ramps. But in winter she's grimy. Then again, that's part of her heritage. Kind of like a race horse that's a "mudder."

Fiona has this official cruising song, too.

    YouTube - Drivin' Sister
(meh, ignore the video. The audio is the point.)

Even though she's not a "Volks." Saucy wench.

    1987 Toyota FJ60 Landcruiser here.

How do I show my love? By beating the ever living crap out of it whenever I get a chance. 260K miles and still going strong. Right now filled with decoys and hunting waders and smells like a stagnant swamp.
