FORT COLLINS. Colo. - Authorities were trying to determine Thursday howto safely bring down a 6-year-old boy who reportedly clambered into hisfamily's experimental balloon-powered aircraft and floated away fromhome, sheriff's officials said.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Department saidthe boy's family had been building an experimental aircraft that had alarge helium balloon attached to it at their home, KUSA-TV reported.The aircraft was approximately 20 feet by 5 feet and covered in tinfoil, the station said.On Thursdaymorning, according to the family and officials, the boy got onto theaircraft and detached the rope holding it in place. Sheriff'sspokeswoman Eloise Campanella said the boy climbed into the access doorand the airborne device took off.

it is all over ham radio. The balloon is at 7,000 feet and heading east. It is a mylar high altitude balloon. Sorry but the kid will not make it. This sucks and I want to know how he had access to it.

A mushroom shaped balloon that dropped to 500 feet. It is traveling at about 20 mph and helicopters are following, encircling it.
Authorities don't know what they can do to stop it, intercept it.

It just landed.
It dropped down and then had a softer landing than they thought it would.-----------------------------------------

There is no one inside the balloon.
It is empty and now they don't know if this was a hoax or what happened.-----------------------------------------
