    I figured since I'm having clusterfuckings with Directtv so often I should start a thread about it so anyone thinking of exchanging cable for sat will know what they're dealing with.





    There's a big, giant list of shit they've pulled with me, so I'll just start with today. I haven't paid my bill in two months, service was due to be interrupted today, so I go online and pay the total $320.20. Payment confirmed, zero balance.



    Then my phone rings, it's an automated line and directtv is requesting I return a call to a certain 888 number. So I call and this crazy lady starts telling me I owe another 34.50. She says my service was cut this morning and so the bill didn't reflect the charge for the receivers. Since they weren't providing me service, they couldn't charge me to use their receivers and that's why I wasn't billed for their rental. Now that I paid my balance, in order to reinstate service, I needed to pony up the dough for the receiver rental.



    So I ask this stupid bitch, "if I decide to cancel my service do I get to use your receivers to anchor my boat free of charge?" She says some stuff basically talking to me like I'm a 2 year-old unable to grasp the simple concepts falling out of her mouth. So I say I'll call back.



    I log back on to my account. Balance: $0.00



    OK, now I'm fuckin heated. I call the number back and get a different woman who says "no sir, you don't owe any additional money, she must have been calling you back to confirm that your service was reinstated".



    Me: "yeah, you're probably right"
    I only tebow in foxholes.

    So, your bill is $160.10 a month for DirectTV?

    That's what I was paying for Comcast and I wasn't happy with that price, so I called

    to cancel my phone service to lower the bill and was told it was part of the Triple Play plan and wouldn't help.

    To cancel premium channels only lowered it $10 a month, so I told them I wanted to cancel and would get DirectTV.

    To my suprise, her manager got on the phone and gave me a 3 year deal for $114 a month.

    I use Clearwire at my shop and inquired last week about getting Comcast there and they came back with a $104 mo.

    rate guaranteed for 3 years. I always thought business accounts were pricier than residential. Go figure.

    Moral of the story is that you have to be a squeaky wheel to get shit done.

    Not exactly. I'm only paying 82 for directtv, I just have basic because I just don't have time enough to justify paying extra for channels I never watch. Ten bucks for 2 extra receivers, and 56 x five months for the NFL Sunday Ticket.



    But your life lesson definately applys here, every time I call to complain about something they credit my bill.

    Very nice thread idea... you probably should've started it, oh I don't know, maybe a month and half ago BEFORE I SIGNED UP FOR DIRECTTV MYSELF!!!



    Okay, so nothing has gone wrong yet... but now I'm just waiting.

    Any truth to that?

    My dad decided to get Direct TV a couple of years ago because they had the Military Channel. The installer came to the house, wired it for sound, hooked up the convertor boxes and the service didn't work. So the tech tried another set of boxes ... still didn't work. He went back through everything and it still didn't work. By this time he has spent about 6 hours at the house. Still no service. So he places a service order and leaves.



    They call to set up an appointment with dad. Dad gives up his flying day to get the service handled. They didn't show. He called ... wrong day. So he skips a fishing day to be there on the day they said was the appointed day. Nada. This goes on for a couple of weeks. Still no service.



    Then they send dad a bill. He calls them ... no service how can there be a bill? Doesn't matter they say he is scheduled for service therefore there are charges. He tells her again ... no service no payment. Now, Dad is 65, been retired for 15 years, Navy Vet, built super computers for a living and this woman thinks she will intimidate him? Nah. lol



    Dad boxes the convertors, goes up on the roof and removes the dish, takes the convertors to UPS and returns them. They continue to try to bill dad. They send him little messages that his service will be interrupted for non payment. What service? lol Then they pissed the old goat off ... they threatened to ding his credit. He called a friend of the family who happens to be a US Senator. They file a complaint with the AG.



    Then Direct TV calls dad to appologize for all of the trouble and to offer him a free premium package if he will let them make it up to him. lol. yeah like that was going to happen.



    All he wanted was the Military Channel to begin with.

    No reception problems yet, plus my 6 year old thinks the dish on the house is a laser gun we can fire at alien attackers. I checked my sign-up paperwork and that isn't included in my package, I wonder how much I'll be billed for that option.

    Yeah, but they have to be bad. I've had it since feb and only lost reception once for about 20 minutes. It was pissing outside. I've been through a nor' easter and not had a problem there. I'd say it's an over-blown issue.
