Bush just using Christians
Book says Bush just using Christians - Countdown with Keith Olbermann - MSNBC.com
More than five years after President Bush created the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, the former second-in-command of that office is going public with an insider’s tell-all account that portrays an office used almost exclusively to win political points with both evangelical Christians and traditionally Democratic minorities.
.......
In fact, when Bush asks Kuo how much money was being spent on “compassion” social programs, Kuo claims he discovered the amount was $20 million a year less than during the Clinton Administration.

Re: Bush just using Christians
Let's be honest here. Do you really think, if given a choice, evangelical Christians would ever vote Democrat? Their political party platform is totally against their beliefs. So did they use them? Sort of. The E.C. used them back to get their beliefs represented by the highest form of government. All this Administration is guilty of is catering to a demographic who is typically non political at the local level in order to get them to come out to the polls. This is no different than the Democrats catering to the minorities or blue collar folk by implementing laws that benefit them in order to get their vote (or getting P.Diddy or whatever the hell his name is today to recruit the younger vote.) So, my real question is, who really cares?
And compassion programs are not part of the Republican platform, so, why is the last sentence a shock to anyone? The real shock is how little a difference there is between Bush and Clinton's administration with this issue. $20 million to the government is like the amount of yearly budget allocated toward Barney's beard trimming.

What? Only a tiny tiny minority think that. That's a huge over-generalization.

I'm honestly thinking about heading a study into the correlation between advocacy of socialism and poor reading comprehension skills.
America is no longer America. The principles present at our founding are ghosts now.
America is an idea, one that this country is failing to live up to.

Re: Bush just using Christians
I am an evangelical fundamentalist Christian. I do not support Bush. I do not believe his claims to Christianity based on his actions as President.
But Kerry scares me more than Bush. I voted for Alan Keys during Bush's first time running. Keys got second place to Bush in the primary.
Last ellection, it was a choice for the lesser or two evils.
At least Bush had SOME domestic plans I liked. Kerry had NONE that I liked, and plenty that scared me even more than Bush' horrible actions in Iraq and with the Homeland Security Act scare me.

How is this different from Bill Clinton pretending to care about black people or single mothers? Don't forget, Bill created a few unwed mothers in his day.
Come to think of it, how is this different from Bill Clinton pretending to care about anyone but himself?

Re: Bush just using Christians
Your wrong ronald. Clinton did care for those people. Way to offer no evidence to those claims either. At least clinton cared enough to stop genocide and not start it.

Come to think about it, when did any politician ever really care about anyone except himself/herself?

When you boil it all down...that is the most common sense statement. What cracks me up....the left screams that Bush is an evangelical nut bent on ending the world, and is simultaniously a wolf in sheeps clothing
Which is it?
