I understand that you want to disbelieve the bible story. And if you want to disbelieve the documented evidence that shows that other emperors asked people to return to their homes for a census, well then you are allowed to do that.

By your logic it is inefficient to demand that everyone go to the place where they are registered to go to vote. They should be allowed to vote at any polling place. Hey maybe they should. Maybe they should all vote via the internet. But that is not the way it is.

No one is forcing you to accept this. You will make up your own mind about whatever consequences there will or will not be.

Some day you may stand before God and answer why you did not beleive in Jesus your savior. You might want to answer that you did not find it credible that an emperor would ask Joseph and Mary to their ancestral home for a census even though people told you that it was not unprecedented. And God will know your heart. So for your sake I hope that this is the real reason.

Some say christianity was built for control. It scares people and makes them do right. If people beleive in it so much, the 'priests' can control the people with their beliefs. ok im done!
Um, where did you get your facts? You do know when the individual books were written don't you?

Easy. Because at the time it was written, there was no easy way for millions of people to share their thoughts and highlight all the plot issues.

That, and the fact that pointing out such holes once meant getting yourself imprisoned or worse.

I see you have swallowed the line that there are lots of holes despite the fact that no one has won any debates here on that. We only debated one here and it was blown out of the water.

Do you not think that if there were tons of actual holes that they would be found somewhere other than on lame skeptics websites?

People have put considerable effort into poking holes in the bible story for thousands of years and yet it remains one of the most influential books of all time because when people read it they very often see that it is right.

It remains popular because of tradition and the susceptibility of the human mind to suggestion, not because it is correct.

I suppose the ideas you subscribe to are popular within your group because they are just good ideas?

Deciding what ideas are good is pretty complex on a sociological level. Yes some ideas are just tradition and some are just due to naivete.

People need to adhere to a good heuristic when deciding what to believe.

On this thread you have already demonstrated that you are willing to reject good arguments for no other reason than that you want to, despite the fact that you stated that you were not just doing starting this thread for "giggles as usual". Seem that "as usual" is still usual.

I have not seen you answer my reply. I made a good argument that has a lot to do with fact. I would like to see your reply to what I said.

Aussie, maybe you should think more about His Message, what He stands for, what He did and means, rather than about trivial details about His life.

Coming from someone that just posted that you don't care what happened in Rwanda? HIS message? What is this message of his that you care so much about but at the same time don't care about genocide?

It's too bad that so many died there, I'm saying -that's a fact of life -people die all the time,,, 30,000 children a day,, I'm tired of Rwanda because it's over and done with and the UN failed...there's nothing to discuss about it..

If people would truly follow and believe Christ, Rwanda would never had happened.
