San Francisco Sanctuary City Strikes Again.
Quote:
Newsom pledges to make SF a sanctuary for illegal immigrants
Peter Fimrite, Chronicle Staff Writer
Sunday, April 22, 2007
(04-22) 18:56 PDT -- Mayor Gavin Newsom vowed Sunday to maintain San Francisco as a sanctuary for immigrants and do everything he can to discourage federal authorities from conducting immigration raids.
The mayor cannot stop federal authorities from making arrests, Newsom told about 300 mostly Latino members of St. Peter's Church and other religious groups supporting immigrants. But no San Francisco employee will help with immigration enforcement.
"I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids," Newsom declared. "We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it."

Slaying suspect once found sanctuary in S.F.
Jaxon Van Derbeken, Chronicle Staff Writer
Sunday, July 20, 2008
The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city's long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation, The Chronicle has learned.
Edwin Ramos, now 21, is being held on three counts of murder in the June 22 deaths of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. They were shot near their home in the Excelsior district when Tony Bologna, driving home from a family picnic, briefly blocked the gunman's car from completing a left turn down a narrow street, police say.
Ramos, a native of El Salvador whom prosecutors say is a member of a violent street gang, was found guilty of two felonies as a juvenile - a gang-related assault on a Muni passenger and the attempted robbery of a pregnant woman - according to authorities familiar with his background.

This knucklehead Newsome wants to run for Governor of California. I can only hope that the U.S. Attorney launches an investigation. Guilty of two felonies, a gang related assault and attempted robbery of a pregnant woman, yet Gavin thinks he not only shouldn't be deported, but shielded. In my opinion the Newsome administration in San Francisco must be held responsible in these three deaths.

Interesting. We must have read different articles.
At what point in either article did it say that this guy should be shielded from prosecution in this case?
By the way, you are far fromt he first to do the little "Republik of Kalifornia" thing.

You may claim to think for yourself, (a claim that I must address when I have a few free moments,) but thankfully you do not claim to read for yourself. Such a claim would almost certainly call your honesty into question.
Had you read, or been able to read the original post, or the linked article you would have seen that the murderer was shielded not from prosecution, but from having his status as an invader reported to the federal authorities. Thus he was not deported to his rightful home country.
I hope none of this is being presented in a manner unsuitable to your comprehension level?

In neither instance did officials with the city's Juvenile Probation Department alert federal immigration authorities, because it was the city agency's policy not to consider immigration status when deciding how to deal with an offender. Had city officials investigated, they would have found that Ramos lacked legal status to remain in the United States.

So, now the country lacks two men and a boy of the sort to attend family picnics, but in exchange we have a rabid killer to try, house, incarcerate, feed and provide medical care for. Can you see the many problems with this exchange?
I might also mention that someone who's idea of wit is an image of a urinating child is hardly in a position to comment on the witticisms of his more literate betters. I am sure that if you reflect upon my words, you will gain wisdom. i am also sure that there is little likelihood of this occurring.

Thesaurus working overtime again? How cute.
Show me where it is the city's responsibility to report someone's status to the federal government.

Yes.
You assume a lot, and we all know what happens when someone assumes.
You assume that he would have been deported.
You assume that he would not have come back.
You assume that this crime would not have taken place elsewhere.
Assume, assume, assume. Get back to me when you have tangible facts to deal with.

It's Calvin. Get over yourself.
You know, you have come to this forum and done nothing but act as if your shit don't stink. I have news for you. Not only does it stink as bad as everyone else's, but the peanuts scratch your tater hole on the way out too. Why not go create another thread espousing your abilities as a scribe for someone that really gives a fuck?

I don't really understand your post? He was already shielded from deportation by S.F.'s sanctuary status and policies. If you referring to the prosecution of the triple murder, that goes without saying, he should and will be prosecuted. Unfortunately it's a little late for three members of the Bologna family. Had Ramos been deported when it was appropriate, the chances of ever crossing paths with the Bologna's is almost nill and they'd likely be alive today. It's easy to discount the victims when it's someone else's. When I was young I had my only sister murdered by a vicious killer (not illegal). I would gladly give up the pleasure of watching fry in the electric chair to get her back.

Tell me how the city of SF failed to do their duty. This is a federal issue, not a local one, and it's up to the federal government to take care of it.

A vicious killer? Is there another kind like a timid killer, or a semi kind killer, or a punctual and charming killer?
Sorry, I don't accept anecdotal evidence, especially when it's conveniently whipped out and lathered with a bunch of dramatic adjectives.

The City had a duty to keep it's residents safe. This is so fundamental that even you should grasp its import.
To enforce the laws and cooperate with lawful authorities. The murderer had twice been under the city's authority as a juvenile and by the crimes he committed demonstrated that he was little more than a wild animal.

And you stand there and smugly declaim that it was "this is a federal issue, not a local one, and it's up to the federal government to take care of it."
--------
You know, I was going to amplify this, but my thinking has changed.
A foolish, self-aggrandized mayor has declared his city above the law, and you support him. As a nearly direct result, a father and his two sons are dead-- shot down like quail, in the street by a monster that never should have been there, that reasonably could have been ejected from the country twice before.
Those that can see the repulsive moral character of the mayor's policy will not need my help to do so.
Those that cannot I expect will be all to happy that someone else had the privilege of dying for their twisted values. It takes a lot of effort, but I pity such people.

They purposely shielded the juvenile from ICE. He went on to kill 3 out of four members of one family, no problem as long as it's not yours....eh?
You can believe what you want. I have found most so called progressives are only progressive when the circumstances fit their own tightly preconceived notions. Anything else usually results in a cranial meltdown, followed by insults and a shouting down. They appear to lose their ability to read as well.
Carry on!
