Actually the big banks are tottering on the edge of collapse. Wachovia had a nearly 10 gig write down for the second quarter and the treasury announced that the Fred and Fran bailout could cost up to 25.

You mean the foreign sovereign wealth funds? Lets hope so. Then we would have someone to sell to!

As for planning a crash, I think someone would be making some money out of this is it were part of a plan.

I don't buy the 2008 crash tag. for the 1920s crashes peaks were as follows:
1921 farm spot prices
1923 futures prices
1925 real estate prices
1927 employment
1929 stock prices
1931 specie backing of currency
1933 the bottom.

The misery process has barely started and the current boom began in 88 without serious correction since then. We have not yet reached the end of the start up to the bad times ahead.
