Default The SoU was....

Absolutely outstanding, for the most part.
Any of you watch it? Didn't it give you the warm & fuzzies?
BTW-Sheila Jackson Lee was right in her spot, where she is every year at the SoU, licking the fingers & kissing the cheek of a man everybody knows she detests. She looked lovely in her green outfit.

I will read the Cliff's notes. I am still mad at G.W. and that isn't going to change soon. He screwed the Republican Party and the conservatives and I just don't want to hear him speak right now. It is all just political spin and damage control for what he has done.

I agree, but still watched & listened to his last SoU.

Bush has come a long way with his public speaking. I seriouslly doubt he had a monitor to read and I did not catch him looking at the paper much either. I believe it was one of his better speeches.

This year's term: Political Correctness.

"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

It's a good thing most people's expectations were low, because they were certainly met.

I would be seriously surprised that any modern day politician would step to a podium to make a much publicized pre-written speech without the use of a Teleprompter. It simply wouldn't be worth the gamble of stumbling over a sentence or forgetting part of the speech, that's all people would talk about the next day - forgetting any substance (whether there was any or not) they had tried to communicate. I believe it is standard use in pretty much all SoU addresses.

It was a good speech, whether one wishes to believe what he said or question his sincerity, well....

If Dubya said "it's a nice day," I'd suspect his motive for saying it. Even if the sun were shining and the temp was 72.
