The Iraq war is indeed wrong, and the United States never should have rallied behind the kneejerk reaction of the Bush White House. However, the sickness runs on both sides, and the fact that some partisans will stoop to the level of wanting death so they can be "right" is a good indicator of how insane and inept the political atmosphere is in Washington.

Soldier respect too? These soldiers are doing a job, one that some disagrees with, but none the less a job. They are humans & deserve at least a rudiment of respect, the same as everyone else does. There isn't another group of people in the world that can be treated like our military is treated & get by with it.

It's about 15 minutes from the edge of San Francisco.
Migi, I did not see anything in that article that says that they were treated any different than anyone else.

Re: "Welcome Home"
I can respect soldiers, at least the ones who aren't acting like jackasses at any given moment. I know the job is dangerous, but I'm just not willing to bow to their moral "superiority". It's simply not my problem that these people signed up for the military.

Yeah right. They believe they're owed bowing and scraping by your average citizen. It's grotesque. I'd rather honor a good teacher.

Respect? Depends...
If you signed up after it became evident that an invasion of Iraq was unavoidable, no.
I supported US actions in Afghanistan after 9/11 but when the administration shifted focus to Iraq, all my support disappeared.
