What say ye to this:

Americans want universal healthcare, soon they will DEMAND it. Of the more than 1.5 million bankruptcies filed in the US each year, about half are a result of medical bills, of those, three-quarters of filers had health insurance.

Businesses are suffering too. Insurance premiums increased 73 percent between 2000 and 2005 and per capita costs are expected to keep rising. The National Coalition on Health Care (NCHC) estimates that, without reform, national health care spending will double over the next 10 years. The NCHC is not some fringe advocacy group — its co-chairs are Congressmen Robert D. Ray (R-IA) and Paul G. Rogers (D-FL) and it counts General Electric and Verizon among its members.

Soon Health Care Insurance premiums will bankrupt not only average Americans but it will bankrupt the country.

National Healthcare is not going to fix the problem. Capping costs among other things that drive the cost of medicine as well as premiums down will.

Reform it, don't run it into the grave.

Health care costs are out-of-control Soon no one will be able to afford insurance coverage. What a paradox - the best health care system that nobody can afford to use.

I don't think that any bankruptcy should be allowed to go through if the person filing had insurance. That's bull.

Damn it, I was going to green you for that, but I've hit my limit!

I might be okay about the idea of national healthcare. But, only if it is privately administered and overseen by elected citizens watch groups authorized to audit and make changes in policy through the ballot box.
Until then, I'm for getting rid of the sweetheart deals that congress has for healthcare. It's outrageous that those who supposedly work for us continually deny healthcare to its constituents while enjoying some of the best healthcare available to ANYONE!
All you GOP's who supposedly represent smaller gov't should either be up in arms or get the hell out of the way when national healthcare is proposed for "we the people."

Is it not factual that vets get "free" health care from the military along with generous pensions?

no they don't only for service related injuries and since we live below the poverty level I doubt that 50% of that is generous.

As for national healthcare, you have to realize if you get it the quality will be gone and thediscovery of meds for life threatening illnesses, gone.
But hey, population control, right.

50 MILLION can not afford Health Care Insurance. What's the point of having quality health care if no one can afford it. That's what's happening. Are you blind to what's going on....

then fix the problem, regulate insurance companies and proteat doctors from frivolous malpractise suits. Do you have any idea what malpractise insurance cost. As for free health care you will get what you pay for.
