Thread: Health care; (“public option�?),children's health care

What does Obama mean by a health care plan with a “public option�. I believe that Medicare is a public plan with private options. Does Obama think Medicare’s an acceptable health care plan?? My only objection to Medicare is the manner it’s funded (and that it’s insufficeintly funded).


There’s no logical relationship between income and medical need. FICA is the most regressive of all federal taxes. A general sales tax wopuled produce more revenue and be less regressive than the FICA payroll tax. FICA tax inhibits hiring. Due to FICA, the ratio’s of federal taxes to family incomes is greater for lower wage earning families than for families that receive the majority of their incomes from any other sources.


It would be less regressive to fund all federal net health care entitlement by introducing a federal sales tax, rather than increasing FICA.

I agree with those advocating we begin by using the Medicare model to create universal health care for our children. It’s financially feasable because the government is alrady paying for the health care of so many children whithin Medicaide and Children’s Health Insurance Programs (within) States, (CHIPS).
..
Medicare type coverage for all children would decrease the expenses ans costs of all existing ad future family health care policies or plans. It would be benificial to a public, non-profit and profit making HMOs and insurance entities.
