The acceptable level for mercury is around 2 parts per billion if I remember correctly and with todays instrumentation we can "detect" toxins at the part per trillion level (a thousand times lower). At some point you are going to find just about everything in anything. Do you think that if an acceptable level has been established which is usually about five times greater than what might cause acute symtoms that it might be safe if it had 1000 times less than the acceptable level? If you don't then you should stop eating because you are being poisoned with dozens of compounds with every bite.

This line near the end of the article completely discredits the whole experiment.
This completely nullifies any scientific credence of the research, rendering the results - the connection between corn syrup and mercury - meaningless.He said his team did not test foods that did not contain corn syrup to see if they were also high in mercury.
