    Instead of Global Warming...

Shouldn't we be looking at global polluting. If you run your car inside your garage for a few minutes you will die. When will our atmosphere fill up with poison?

Besides literal death these poisons can cause a lot of problems. My doctor told me I could only feed my daughter a tuna sandwhich once every two weeks because of the poisoning done to our waters.:hissy: My daughter LOVES tuna.

My point is we do not know if man is creating the global warming. We are pretty insignificant in comparison to the sun or overall world weather conditoins.

Why the focus on warming and neglect pollution and poison?

Pollution is clearly a problem in big cities and pollution control of some kind is a non brainer.

But remember that when you are talking about the atmosphere of the entire planet, the garage example really does not track.

Wouldn't the atmosphere eventually, no matter how large fill up?

Or do the poison chemicals breakdown rapidly enough to prevent a build up?

Well it's a bit hard to know whom to believe. The global warming crisis thing is based on the idea that a non-pollutant (Co2) is driving up the world's temperature and that we are responsible. Yet the man made portion is only .0016% of the earth's atmosphere.

Persistent pollutants from man are a much smaller portion. Those that are toxic are a real concern, but my guess is that if you don't have a landscape that traps and concentrates them that they are dissipated. So the cities are the greatest concern.

In the garage, the car's exhaust in the closed space would far exceed those percentages in a matter of minutes.

Exactly, man's effects on global warming are insignificant, however the smog cloud I see over the city seems pretty significant when considering the chemicals that make that cloud up.

Once the pollution has dissapated, where does it go? If this pollution is not biodegradable then it is simply building up over time, right?

    Thanks for the feedback.

I think if you google atmosphere chemicals, you can get plenty of good reading. I just skimmed a number of articles with differing views. There are many layers of amtosphere and a circulation system that moves material around. I think we can assume that many elements do build up over time.

I agree. Polution is far worse than AGW. I too love fish and am unhappy that I need to limit how much I eat. But no one gets any attention complaining about mercury.

Everything breaks down at some point unless it is elemental. Some things take a really long time and some things break down pretty fast.

Because vast political empires and immense fortunes are easier to make by combating imaginary problems, than by confronting real ones.

Also, I live in a village where I would estimate that 10% to 25% of many of the people's diet is ocean caught fish. I'm an Emergency Medical Technician and the editor of the local newspaper. In ten years here, I've never heard of a singe real or suspected case of mercury poisoning.

Consider the possibility that you are being fed a lot of informational nonsense to keep you in your place.

You don't need to choose between the two. you can be concerned about both general pollution and AGW if you want. Its a free country.
