Thread: Lest we Forget

Now, I apologize for not reading the whole thread to make a contribution to the current argument, but there is something about certain liberals, the Iraq War, and the Holocaust. We were talking about the Iraq war and, as expected, the liberals of the group started spouting useless arguments like "They didn't ask us to invade!". After this me and my conservative friends switch topic to the Holocaust to avoid further yelling. One of the people yelling seconds ago blurts out immediately that we should have went over as soon as we heard rumors of genocide. They then proceed on in life unknown on how their comments show how their ideas are just that of the mainstream media.

Fact A: Amhajena-don'tknowhowtospellit is idiotic.
Fact B: Saddam Hussein killed people who opposed him as well, just not mass
murder of Jews and other groups (like the unmentioned gypsies etc).
Fact C: The above speakers do not realize the Hitler didn't ask us to attack his country either.


(Note: This comment does not state that I think Hitler was right, cause I am sure someone would say that without me putting this.)

Perhaps they believe that if they repeat a lie often enough, it will eventually be perceived as fact.

Interesting point, but you're missing one fact. We didn't go to war to stop genocide. We went because there was a belief among the political and intelligence communities that Saddam Hussein was a threat to the United States. In WWII, the Japanese proved at Pearl Harbor that they were a threat to the United States, and that's why we went to war then.

The fact that Hussein and Hitler engaged in genocide might assuage some consciences, but that isn't the reason we are fighting in Iraq, and that wasn't the reason we entered WWII, either.
