    Free World??

Reading another post making reference to the free world made me laugh!! Where exactly is that?? I admit to feeling as though I have more freedoms than a lot of other countries but do I feel like I am living in a free world by far NO. My liberties are seemingly being reduced all the time, and if they aren't reduced yet it seems as though it is only a matter of time until whatever party gets to appoint the right Supreme Court justices to take something else away. Anyway the reference to the free world made me laugh.

    Vote Libertarian!

Honestly, this is the only option. Both Democrats and Republicans are hell-bent on taking our freedoms, one after another.

We're in a sorry state today, and it's been brought about by indifference.

Tell me please, what civil liberty of yours has been deminished. Give me an example of how you have had this happen specifically to you.

Libertarians aren't exactly "moderate", but I see your point.

    Re: Free World??

These do not all apply specifically to me, but what has been diminshed?
    1. Freedom of speech - Ask Howard Stern
    2. Freedom of Religion - Prayer in school?
    3. Freedom of Assembly - Ask that woman in Texas against Bush and the war
    4. Right to bear arms - nothing is said about registration?
    5. Protection against unreasonable search and seizure - especially since 9-11
    6. The right to a speedy trial - Sure you have the right, but it probably ain't gonna happen.

The list goes on. The only one of them specifically applying to me was registering firearms, but they still affect me in knowing that if I want to use my rights there are certainly limitations on them that should not be there.

    3. Freedom of Assembly - Ask that woman in Texas against Bush and the war Did you try to assemble and the man stopped you?
    4. Right to bear arms - nothing is said about registration? Did someone take your guns?
    5. Protection against unreasonable search and seizure - especially since 9-11 Were you serched and had things taken from you ileagally?

If they did not happen to you then why do you say it???

To me, that is a dumb question. When a liberty is taken away, just because it does not affect me does not mean that it won't at some point. With that line of reason, I should not have an opinion on abortion either because it has not happened to me. I have a right to the freedoms given to me by the Constitution.

    1. Freedom of speech - Ask Howard Stern how was your freedom of speech infringed upon???

I'll take this on. My mother works for the county govermen where she lives. In her department, people are forbidden from wishingeach other a "Merry Chirstmas" because of its religious implications, despite the fact that it is a national public holiday.

    2. Freedom of Religion - Prayer in school? Did someone make you pray at school??

Someone has restricted me from praying at school. That is not freedom of religion.

    3. Freedom of Assembly - Ask that woman in Texas against Bush and the war Did you try to assemble and the man stopped you?

In one city in which I lived, if any organized group gathered in a park, they were required to have a permit (pay a tax to meet peaceably). They were not free to do so withou paying this permit fee and being approved by the city.

    4. Right to bear arms - nothing is said about registration? Did someone take your guns?

In California, where I grew up, it is illegal to carry a firearm, even with a permit, unless it is prominently displayed and bullets not anywhere near it. Many firearms are illegal to own at all there.

    5. Protection against unreasonable search and seizure - especially since 9-11 Were you serched and had things taken from you ileagally?

And what is the law now under the Homeland Security Act? I know people who'se houses were searched and computers taken without warrant. They were never arrested, and their computers never returned. They are being held "indefinately" under the new laws.
