Jim Kouri - TEHRAN -- Iran's chief cleric Ahmad Jannati said on Tuesday that Islamic nations should help in arming Hezbollah in order to continue their fight against Israel.
While Iran has repeatedly denied arming Hezbollah, and claims it only provides moral support to the Hezbollah terrorists, Israel accused Iran of providing Hezbollah with missiles used against civilian and military targets. US intelligence agencies also concur that it was Iran who sent rockets into Lebanon for Hezbollah.
Speaking to the student news agency ISNA, Jannati said, "We are expecting Muslim nations to provide various kinds of support, including arms, medicine and food to Hezbollah."
Jannati is the leader of the Guardian Council, Iran's "constitutional" overseers. It's composed of six clerics and six attorneys.
