Thread: U.S. should establish a military base in Kashmir!!

I think The U.S. should broker a deal for a Military Base with Pakistani President Musharrif in their controlled part of Kashmir so we can keep a watchful eye on India(nuclear programs) and establish a strategic foothold on the region near China in case if the Korean situation ever became full blown and China took sides with them then we could be in great striking position. Also I believe that India needs to redo their constitution and release kashmir from it as part of their territory.

If you think "India needs to redo their constitution" then please quote the exact passages of that Indian constitution which you have read and would like to be changed, otherwise, you expose your dogmatic and incomplete understanding of this topic.

I, too, think that India should release Kashmir(so long as Pakistan and China also release it and the U.S. keeps out of it militarily, anything less would be supporting the perpetuation of "terrorism" by inviting it there where, before, things were mainly a sporadic "war").
But if you kept even more up-to-date, davy, you'd see that it would be smarter to talk, in relation to the Indian constitution, about how India should release the state of Manipur(i'll give you some time to go ahead and look that one up).

With all this said, I can confidently tell you the U.S. is being and will be continually phased out of India(only militarily, don't worry too much) more and more as a result of India's growing relations with China.
This was written by a retired brigadier of the Indian army regarding proposals in the Indian government to renew commercial/political relations with china:

Pakistan would perhaps keep getting its armament and equipment from China but this would progressively become a commercial matter. Pakistan may also feel persuaded to pursue a less strident line in regard to Kashmir and terrorism across the border into India. Third, with the gradual scaling down of hostilities between India and Pakistan, there may be a cooling down of Islamic belligerence within India. Shorn of support from Pakistan, the ordinary people, who have nothing to gain by hostility against one another, will start seeing opportunities in business and trade.
China, too, has much to gain from such a rapprochement. Firstly, it will find a huge market for its goods in India. Secondly, it will gain from India’s expertise in software development, which it has been avidly seeking. Thirdly, it would wean India away from the US to support its quest for oil and gas in the South China Sea. hey, dave, i'll speak to you with respect for a moment here: do me a favor and do your research on this one before you continue to get into it because it would be real easy for anyone of any kind of knowledge to slaughter you on this topic if you don't know what's really going on over there. consider that you are very far removed living here in the U.S. to know anything about that area especially since India and China, in particular, have managed to boot the u.s. out of that area at their will for quite some time now, so you will need to do double the research. that's my two cents, i will leave it be from there.

Do you know how long all those clauses in the Indian constitution are. I was at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport ,La and was talking to a friend who's friend and neighbor is a B-52 pilot and his wife is from Pakistan and that was their military point of view which was very precise on the India China situation. They usually know whats going on ahead of the public you know. Anyway Pakistan doesn't have Kashmir written in theirs does it?

Yep, just saw on the morning news just a minute ago where Pakistan is building a new Nuclear Facility where it can produce up to 50 nukes a year. Looks like a Arms Race is gonna begin in China and India. I guess having a base over their isn't a bad idea anyway huh. Maybe the pilot was right.

Interesting idea, but would it really work?

Perhaps it would work as a slight deterent to India and Pakistan wanting to get at eachothers throats so often, but don't forget the fine balance in this area. India has over a million troops on it's border and Pakistan is on the edge of it's military capability. Any sort of assistance or presence by an advanced western nation on either side could tip this balance and actually start something bad.

Besides, is the US the right country to do this? The US has little history in the area, expeccially in military terms. I would argue for a British base on either side as this could be much better but also much worse.

I think we need to trust India and Pakistan right now, give them more responsibility for the region, more praise for thier recent economic surge. Eventually, they'll grow up and nuclear weapons wont be used as an indirect threat everytime japati is thrown.

I also think America should mind their own fucking business. Our military is stretched soooo thin right now that we have lost the strength to be a real threat. The military is mostly everywhere else EXCEPT at home where they belong protecting OUR borders and people. Not someone elses borders and people. It's the UNITED STATES MILITARY, not WORLD MILITARY.

It would be nice to become isolationist, but it's not possible because America does not produce much, and thus we truly rely on other countries which means we do have to "police the world" in order to maintain the status quo and make sure that we are still getting the products that we "need"

We outsourced our resources for cheaper labor and materials. Nobody's fault but our own.
