Brown proposes "England totally rawkz!" day

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4611682.stm

I really don't think this can work. I mean, Britain is so naturally multi-cultural and multi-religious that there can't possibly a form of celebration that accomodates everything. And if we go ahead with a "white St George's" type day, it's going to piss a LOT of people off. And rightly so.

Of course it's rightly so. I read somewhere that Britain's population is about 38% non-white. I think it's more than that, but still.. if we only do a "white St-Georges" style celebration, we essentially ignore those approx. 40% of BRITISH citizens.

oh, i thought you were for it, and thus my first reply ... lol, my bad

well, its good that it wont recognize the other 40%. that gets people mad, and then changes happen, which may be good 8)

I like the idea of a British Celebration Day. I just don't think there's a way it can work.
